Yesterday's afternoon traffic in Bulwar Filadlfijski (Philadelphia Boulevard), that stretches along between the River Vistula on the left and the city walls on the right. In the distance you can see the main bridge which is often the cause of many traffic jams. Next year a brand new 2nd road bridge will open up further down the river.
By the way it's got its name due to the fact that Toruń is actually twinned with Philadelphia, USA.

Room with a View
This close-up of the city walls of Toruń reveals an apartment with possibly the best balcony in town...overlooking the River Vistula. Would love to sit out there sipping a cup of tea and reading the morning paper.

GUEST'S GALLERY: Romantic Stroll
Our Guest's Gallery series continues with this beautiful shot of a romantic couple walking along the old moat that once ran around Toruń's Teutonic Castle. Thanks to Pete Tunnicliffe for the image.

A Romantic Walk
This evening we went for a nice walk along the city walls. The sun was just setting which helped create a warm and romantic atmosphere. Adding to the romance was some temporary graffiti (created by snowballs) on the city wall (to the right). It originally said: "Kocham Cie"...aka "I Love You". How nice!

City Wall Sitter

This is a new addition to part of the Old City Wall in Ul. Podmurna. It is situated on the same wall as the Passion Figures and indeed is by the same artist. (see earlier post): http://torundailyphoto.blogspot.com/2007/05/passion-scene-figures.html)Think it really adds character to the place!

TORUŃ BY NIGHT: Ul. Bankowa
We have now turned left from Ul. Żeglarska into the narrow and perfectly picturesque Ul. Bankowa. The narrow road runs along the old city wall (which you can see on the left). In the distance (behind the parked car), you can just make out the steps leading up to the famous Krzywa Wieża (leaning tower of Toruń). You can see a photo of the same location here at: http://torundailyphoto.blogspot.com/2007/04/alley-walk.html
The night tour continues...

TORUŃ BY NIGHT: City Wall Gate
This is one of the main gates in the Old City Walls of Toruń. In the medieval times, this gate was linked to a bridge ("most") that crossed the River Vistula. Hence, why the name of the street beyond the archway is called Ul.Mostowa. The small arch to the left is the same arch in yesterday's post. The attractive building in the distance is Dwór Mieszczański , which has already been featured on Toruń Daily Photo (see http://torundailyphoto.blogspot.com/2007/03/dwr-mieszczaski.html and http://torundailyphoto.blogspot.com/2007/04/dwr-mieszczaski-profile.html).Incidentally, for a different version of the same gate, see our earlier post: http://torundailyphoto.blogspot.com/2007/04/gate-or-face.html

TORUŃ BY NIGHT: City Walls
Today's picture, the first of a new series of Toruń night shots, shows part of the old city walls that run alongside the River Vistula. Here we are looking towards the gate that leads into Ul.Mostowa. The black and white building that you can see in the distance jutting out, is part of the Karczma Spichrz hotel (an old granary that has since been converted into an upmarket hotel).
