The summer months are a busy time for Toruń as hordes of German and Polish tourists descend on the city. In May/June it's also a popular place for endless groups of school kids visiting from other cities. To cash in on the tourists there are many little wooden shacks selling an assortment of souvenirs...mainly representing Toruń's Teutonic knights era. Wouldn't like to be hit by one of those wooden axes though!! :D

Vistula Pleasure Cruise
This is the pleasure boat Wanda which takes tourists on daily trips up and down Toruń's stretch of the River Vistula. Apart from her and the odd canoe, there really isn't much other traffic on Poland's longest and most well-known river.

This is a community service billboard on the corner of Newport Avenue and Beale Street sponsored by Uncle Sam Rounseville. The question mark has been there for the past month to promote a contest for a new slogan for this history rich city. The winner receives 500 John Adams dollars donated by Uncle Sam. I'll post the winning slogan once the new billboard appears.

City Wall Sitter

This is a new addition to part of the Old City Wall in Ul. Podmurna. It is situated on the same wall as the Passion Figures and indeed is by the same artist. (see earlier post): http://torundailyphoto.blogspot.com/2007/05/passion-scene-figures.html)Think it really adds character to the place!
