Flowers and Buildings

These beautiful flowers are to be found in Ul.Szeroka. Behind them you can see the rows of buildings of Ul.Mostowa and at the end - the bridge gate which used to connect to a bridge (hence the name) across the River Vistula.

Colourful tenement buildings in Ul. Mostowa. You can see how some residents make do with the little space that they have on their balconies.

TORUŃ BY NIGHT: Walkers

Walking up Ul. Mostowa towards the main centre of the city. The archway and hotel from the previous posts are now behind us. The steps to the left of the picture, lead into a Turkish restaurant.

We are about to turn left towards the cathedral.

TORUŃ BY NIGHT: Hotel Karczma Spichrz and Mostowa Gate

Continuing our special series of night shots, here is the view on the other side of the gate featured in the last couple of posts. Next to the recently restored gate is the Hotel Karczma Spichrz. The building used to be a granary and has now been beautifully renovated and turned into a hotel. The hotel also boasts a traditional Polish restaurant where you can enjoy rustic meals and even listen to a spot of live folk music!

TORUŃ BY NIGHT: City Wall Gate

This is one of the main gates in the Old City Walls of Toruń. In the medieval times, this gate was linked to a bridge ("most") that crossed the River Vistula. Hence, why the name of the street beyond the archway is called Ul.Mostowa. The small arch to the left is the same arch in yesterday's post. The attractive building in the distance is Dwór Mieszczański , which has already been featured on Toruń Daily Photo (see http://torundailyphoto.blogspot.com/2007/03/dwr-mieszczaski.html and http://torundailyphoto.blogspot.com/2007/04/dwr-mieszczaski-profile.html).
