Stay in a Palace!
The brand-new Pałac Romantyczny in Turzno (20km away from Toruń) is a hotel like none other. Situated in a beautifully-restored 19th century palace, the hotel offers a unique 4-star country hotel experience. Set in acres of grounds with tennis courts and a spa, the hotel was once visited by none other than Chopin!

IBIS: A Concrete Shell
Following on from yesterday's post about the new hotel boom here in Toruń. Bang next door to Hotel Etap, the Accor Group have also built what will one day become a Hotel IBIS. At the moment it is little more than a concrete shell. But once opened (and we guess it would be within the next 12 months) it will have 110 rooms.

A Cheap Stay in Toruń

With the prospect of becoming the 2016 European Capital of Culture and also the looming 2012 European Football Championships...there is a new hotel boom here in Toruń. In the space of a year there have been at least 3-4 new hotels. There has also been a boom in budget accommodation (most of the hotels here in Toruń are 3 star). The Accor Hotel group have opened up a new Hotel Etap which is situated near the River Vistula (only 6 mins walk into town).

I love me some Friday's off, I do
Francis Marion Hotel, Charleston, SC
Up and at 'em kids! I took the day off to celebrate my adopted country and the fact that if I was Queen, three days weekends would be mandatory. Hip hip hurray!
I pretended that yesterday was a technical Friday and made it to the Terrace Theater in time for a matinee, sat in the dark alone with my cuppa tea letting the work week seep out of me. It is my theater/therapist/spa. Mike the owner let me know he had discovered the blog - hey Mike! Isn't it time I rated my own large tea mug?
Today's photo is of the renovated Francis Marion Hotel. It is one of our few tall buildings in Charleston and over looks Marion Square. You can walk out the door and have breakfast at the Farmer's Market on Saturdays. Here are a million reviews. I pass it almost every day of my life on my walking route and will do so again in about ten minutes.

TORUŃ BY NIGHT: Ul. Kopernika
We have now turned right from yesterday's picture into Ul. Piekary, heading back towards the centre of the Old Town. Here you can see the view as we cross over Ul. Kopernika on the right. This famous street is so called as it was here, where the legendary astronomer Copernicus was allegedly born. You can just make out his birthplace in the far distance on the right. The bright yellow building on the left is the 3-star Hotel Gotyk. The night tour continues ever furthermore...

TORUŃ BY NIGHT: Hotel Karczma Spichrz and Mostowa Gate
Continuing our special series of night shots, here is the view on the other side of the gate featured in the last couple of posts. Next to the recently restored gate is the Hotel Karczma Spichrz. The building used to be a granary and has now been beautifully renovated and turned into a hotel. The hotel also boasts a traditional Polish restaurant where you can enjoy rustic meals and even listen to a spot of live folk music!
