The Thomas Crane Library, one of H.H. Richardson's most successful designs, really shows beautifully with its spring landscape which was designed by famous landscape architect, Frederick Law Olmsted.  I  wish funding was provided so people could visit the interior of the library on Sundays.

Here Come the Summer Gardens!

You wouldn't think it, looking out the window today, but it's currently spring. This means the welcome arrival of storks, lambs...and more importantly Toruń's summer beer gardens. Here are some shots of the latest garden being resurrected in the old market square.

Golden Tower

The First Parish Church of the Presidents in Quincy Center has had its bell tower and clock refurbished just in time for a spring unveiling. The gold really glistens in the sun.

Cutting the Branches

A bit of spring pruning in place today! Was surprised this morning to wake up to a thin blanket of snow. Luckily, it's melted once again. Tomorrow, the clocks change here in Poland (as in most of Europe)...a sure sign that longer days and warmer climates are here to stay!

Relaxing by the River

The sun is out, the skies are blue...and sping is back in town! The bulwar along the banks of the River Vistula was busy yesterday with people relaxing and soaking up the sun. It won't be long now until the pub barges get moored up and the beer gardens will appear!

This crocus in bloom is a sure sign of spring. The use of monochrome on this macro image makes me appreciate the details of this simply beautiful flower.

Spring is in the Air (part 2)

Some more signs that spring is here in Poland: Green grass (and not that horrible white stuff)...and a beautiful, bright red ladybird. The only ladybird I've seen for the past few months is the one planted on that damn Biedronka logo (a cheap and nasty Polish supermarket chain). Great to see you little ladybird...thanks for bringing spring back to Poland!!

Spring is in the Air (part 1)

The snow is officially gone, the blue skies are more apparent and the temperatures are much warmer (today it peaked at around 10C). However, the real sign that spring is on its way are when the flowers begin to bloom. And as captured this morning...TDP can say that spring is here to stay for sure!

The Morning Nest

You know spring is here when the storks fly back in. Storks are amazing creatures, in that they have the ability to fly all the way back to mainland Europe from Africa and find their own nest that they had built some years previously. They have a better SatNav than most 747s!!!

The Glowing Willow

The evening setting sun creates a warm glow on this beautiful willow tree. The tree itself is not situated by a pond or river but right next door to the smoke guzzling bus station!!!

Yes, the Adams farmstead is my favorite bucolic setting in Quincy. This pond was made by the rise in the water table from the unusual heavy rains of March.
