The Revenge of Mr Frost!

Strange things are happening here in Poland. After a couple of weeks of blistering hot weather, Mr Frost comes a long with a sting in his tail!! Last night, temperatures plummeted in Toruń to a shocking minus 7C! Down south in Wrocław there was even snow! All this in May?! Sadly the frost has destroyed our fruit on our trees which means that this year we won't have any apples, cherries or walnuts. It also means that the price of apples will soar this year in Poland. All because of one night of damn frost!!!

The Wind Blows!

Yesterday, the winds really picked up and the whole of Poland was buffeted by strong winds. The first 2 shots were taken at 8pm last night with the dark ominous clouds. The film was taken in the early evening as I walked through a local park. The shaky camerawork at the beginning was when I had to quickly dodge a falling branch!

Cutting the Branches

A bit of spring pruning in place today! Was surprised this morning to wake up to a thin blanket of snow. Luckily, it's melted once again. Tomorrow, the clocks change here in Poland (as in most of Europe)...a sure sign that longer days and warmer climates are here to stay!

Spoke too soon

Always the way...you think it's the end of winter...and yet it still wants to linger! Last weekend TDP posted sunny spring photos. Today though the temperatures have dropped once again, the grey thick clouds have swept in and for the first time in ages, it's raining! Come on spring...you can do it! Come back!

Escape from Winter

Well, you may all be wondering where TDP has been for the past 2 weeks. The simple answer is we escaped the winter blues currently here in Poland and had a wonderful hot holiday in sunny Tenerife! The temperatures there ranged between 23C and 30C which is much more than here in Poland - currently hovering around 0C!

Here are two contrasting photos. One was taken a few days ago on the beach in Tenerife...the other taken today north of Toruń! What a contrast indeed. Where do you fancy going on your holidays? ;-)

The Winter Fog

With snow comes fog and tonight was no exception. This scene was taken at the crossroads on the Highway number 1 the main road from Toruń to Gdańsk. Below is a short video showing what it's like to walk alone down a country lane through the thick fog.

A Heavy Storm

This morning Toruń woke up to a real heavy thunderstorm. The heavens literally opened up. But within an hour the storm clouds had passed and what started out as a miserable morning soon became one of the hottest and humid days of the year!!
