My favorite things

Meditation Garden, Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital, Charleston, S.C.
I park on the other side of this garden each morning and have the option of walking across the parking lot or through the garden. The garden route is a little less direct so I don't take it every day which is really dumb since it is so breathtakingly beautiful.

Most mornings as I enter the hospital from the west Women's Services entrances there will be a young man sitting on the bench by the door. He is rumpled, bleary eyed and talking excitedly into a phone. It's a different man every morning but they all have one thing in common. They aren't patients but they wear thin plastic bracelets around a wrist. The bracelet is the tell tale sign of a new father. They are new fathers who have fallen in love with a precious baby born during the night. It's finally a reasonable hour to wake up friends and loved ones.

That is the moment I walk by and smile to myself. It's not a bad way to begin a day.

Garden Boules

With scorching temperatures currently in Poland, what better way to relax than a game of garden boules.

More Snow!

OK...at last we can say Toruń is in the depths of winter. It's currently minus 2 and there is a crisp blanket of snow covering everything. With temperatures expected to drop further...expect the snow to stay a little longer.

SNOW!

Well...for sure it's been late coming but at least we can say we now officially have snow in Toruń (albeit a thin layer which is currently being turned into slush!!). Winter this year has been very mild, compared to the two month slog that was last winter!

Blossom Gate

Meeting St., Charleston, S.C.
Do I have to stop posting Halloween pictures? They were so much fun. I only had three little visitors at my door last night but I had the greatest time hanging out on Facebook looking at all the photos of kids of all ages and pets in costumes. It was almost as good as seeing them at my door.

I spotted this blossom decorating a gate on Meeting St. on Saturday when I was out hunting Halloween scenes. Isn't it gorgeous? It was propped there like a gift waiting for me.

The Radish Story

Freshly picked but not ready to eat
Waiting to have their leaves and roots removed
Once the leaves and roots have been removed, the radishes are washed
A whole bucket of red radishes
Yum yum...ready to eat!

It's that time of year again...to grow radishes...and this year we have had so many that we're practically going to look like a radish!!

Green Fingers!

The sun's shining and Toruń's work-force is out to make the town look its absolute best! This worker was doing a spot of gardening in the park near the bus station.

Bearly Washing!

Here is a strange sight indeed. Last weekend, my wife decided to air her impressive teddy bear collection. What better way...than hang them up on the washing line!!

Froggy Foto

Well you will notice, that we have been having a bit of a nature-theme this week here at Toruń Daily Photo. So to cap off the week, here is one more nature shot...and unfortunately its not a live one!!! This frog lamp stands proudly in my parents-in-laws' garden a few kms north of Toruń. It was a wedding present from a good university friend of mine. It runs completely by solar power. During the day, it soaks up the rays...and in the night it beams them back for all of us to see!

A refreshing cuppa!

There is nothing like a good ole cup of coffee under the sun. As you can see the gloomy weather of Easter has long since gone...and we now have beautiful clear blue skies and alot of sunshine. This photo was taken yesterday in one of the many summer "beer gardens" that have now popped up around the main square of Toruń.
