Market Street Shadows

Tha shadows are falling across the bottom of Market Street as yet another business bites the dust.

Waterways bathroom and tiles showroom has now closed down and the premises are up for rent. On the left is the Donnybrook Medical Centre by the bus station. The shuttered shop on the right was once the surgery of Dr Shipman.

Please visit Best of Hyde 2012 and vote for your favourite photos.

Shadow Shot Sunday: Market Street Colonnade

In front of the parade of shops at the bottom end of Market Street, leading towards the bus station, is a colonnade.

Classical colonnades were constructed using large stone columns but Victorian colonnades were made with wrought iron. Essentially they create a covered walkway in front of the buildings. They shelter shoppers from the rain, but in better weather the sun casts delightful shadows on the pavement.

Snack Bar Makeover

You may recall this snack bar from an earlier TDP post 4 years ago (http://torundailyphoto.blogspot.com/2007/05/hod-dog.html). It was featured as it once displayed some dodgy English spelling ('hod dog' instead of 'hot dog'!).

Well you'll be pleased to know that since then the snack bar has undergone a major transformation. The hod dog sign has long gone and in its place is a rather modern digital sign. It's also had a new lick of paint.

The new name 'Mini-bar' is a little misleading though. We're not in a hotel room!!! ;-)

Theme Day: Edges

It's that time of the month again...the City Daily Photo Theme Day...and today it's all about edges. Thought that this photo of Toruń's slick and modern bus station is the perfect example to reflect edges. How many edges can you count?

Homeward Bound (in ALL weathers!)

Toruń's main bus station is always the centre of activity...even when its way below zero and loads of snow! This is the main point of call for local commuters coming into Toruń by bus. Most tourists arrive by train to the station from Warsaw.
