The maple leaves in my yard were skim coated with some frost this morning.  They look like sugar maples ;-)

Splendor

I've been looking to the sky on my recent walks, hoping to be treated to some of autumn's splendor skyward. I was rewarded with a glimpse between the trees of these Canadian geese in flight. I grabbed a quick shot with my trusty Lumix. I turned down the clarity in the post-processing of this photo to give the trees the feathery quality you see.

I spotted these outside The Church of the Presidents in Quincy Center.

Autumn Colours

It's one of the most beautiful times here in Poland, when the leaves turn that wonderful golden colour. Having said that, after spending a couple of hours clearing away the leaves from our garden...autumn can also be a pain!! ;-)

One Red Leaf

The Adams Mansion is Quincy's most famous house with grounds opened year round. The fence from yesterday's post borders the property on Adams Street.

Snow Job

Woke up this morning to a some slushy snow as a backdrop to the autumn leaves. Warm ocean air kept this historical snowstorm at bay. Inland, the Bay State received as much as 2 feet of the snowy crystals!

Dressed & Undressed

Cemeteries are a great place for viewing the shapes and colors of trees in a city. I liked the contrast of the 2 trees here -- one in full fall dress and the tree beside it that has shed all its leaves.

Standing Tall

The trees in the Quincy Credit Union parking lot are hanging onto their leaves a bit longer.

Autumn Dance

This tree trunk appears to be caught in a dance moving among the rows of graves at Mt. Wollaston Cemetery.

Face Carved In Stone

This Quincy style jack-o-lantern was carved from a 6,000 pound block of granite by local artist, Ed Monti. The 83-year-old granite sculptor surprised the city by placing this grinning piece onto city hall plaza for all to enjoy . . . and the best part is . . . it won't rot. Happy Halloween!
