On National News
Today I was up at the crack of dawn to film 4 short segments for Polish national news channel TVN24. The segments which will be broadcast throughout the day were in connection with our sister site Toruntips.com and the many Irish fans who will be descending on Toruń for Euro 2012.

From Soap Star to Bank Star
This is Bartosz Opania, a familiar face on Polish TV. He stars in the popular TVP2 series "Na dobre i na złe" ("For Better or For Worse") and was one of the actors that TDP saw filming over a year ago in Toruń. You may remember the incident when one of the film crew tried to stop us from taking a photo. The End of the World is Nigh...
Was sitting at work yesterday evening...and suddenly one of my colleagues noticed hundreds of birds flying low over Toruń. So what did I do...grabbed my camera!!Of course, there is a rationale explanation for this strange phenomenon but disaster movies such as 2012 do always stick at the back of one's mind. Last week, I had a teenage student who was almost near to tears as she had just watched a documentary informing her that the end of the world will be in December 2012. Watch this space!...

The Rude Film Crew!
The well-known Polish TV series "Na dobre i na złe" ("For Better or For Worse") is currently shooting today here in Toruń. So like most people I popped on down to have a quick-look. There was quite a lot happening as the cameras began to roll and film two characters walking down Ul. Szeroka. Suddenly, this rude film crew member targeted me and told me to stop taking photos (despite the fact that there were many others taking photos). Luckily, things changed when I started to talk to him in English. There were some official press photographers there...and they backed me up...by telling the guy that I was with the BBC!! So the guy calmed down and walked off. Ha ha...gullible, or what?! Still, I suppose TORUŃ DAILY PHOTO does promote Toruń internationally more than some of the actual accredited press !In the last picture you can just make out the actors Maria Gładkowska and Bartosz Opania standing in the distance awaiting their cue.

A Wintry Broadcast
TORUŃ DAILY PHOTO rarely posts more than one post a day. However, we couldn't resist putting up this picture which was taken this evening. A local TVP Bydgoszcz news correspondent awaits her live link up back to the news studio. She was in Toruń's main market square reporting for a piece about tomorrow's national fundraising event - Wielka Orkiestra Świątecznej Pomocy.

STRIKE!
This is Robert France and Khrystene Dalecki - two Native English teachers working at UMK - the University of Nicholas Copernicus here in Toruń. Yesterday, together with fellow teacher Thomas Anderson they were on strike! Reason being because for some reason, Native English teachers at UMK were not given the same fair contract as Polish employees. Hence there was some fireworks!The story was big news here in Poland and even made national papers and TV stations. Here the pair are being interviewed on local TV (note their red arm bands!).
