I'm sure the hedges bordering this 1890 house at 414 Highland Avenue, will be buried in snow before too long! If this was my house, I would hang-out in that "Florida Room" watching the swirling, twirling snow sculpt some beautiful creations outdoors.

This well cared for 1920 house on Barham Avenue has some pleasing design elements such as the hip roof line.  I also like the front door with the double vertical window panes.

This 1900 house on Ellington Road has some beautiful granite supports on the porch holding up the 2nd story porch.

What a beautiful porch on this 1907 four-square home located at 17 Dunbarten Road.  The paint color works well with the granite block foundation and I like the placement of the wreath on the side bump-out.

This 1925 house is located at 97 Summit Ave.  the residents of this hilltop home have a spectacular view of Boston and the coastline from the backside.

Today's old house was built in 1910, and is located on Bellevue Road in the Squantum section of Quincy.  This Prairie-Bungalow style house may have been built to function as a summer house that was well situated to catch the cool breezes off Quincy Bay.

This 1890 house, located at 151 Monroe Rd. on Presidents Hill, has a beautiful wrap-around porch and some colorful foliage surrounding that.

This 1870s bracketed Italianate house is located on Pine Street in the Wollaston section.

This is the third purple colored house I have spotted in Quincy!  I like the green color of the trim work and brackets of this 1914 house located at 85 Monroe Road on President's Hill.

Today's 1925 two-family is located on South Central Street in the Wollaston Hill area.  This house's new exterior is bathed in some great light.  Notice the Quincy Granite block foundation.

Today's house was built in 1912, and is a neighboring house to last week's featured house on Pine Street in the Wollaston section.  Blue is an unusual color for houses in Quincy.  I like the shingle work on the front attic peak.

This red house located at 184 Pine Street, caught my eye for today's post.  I do not believe the 1945 public record correctly reflects the age of this house.  First of all, not many houses were built in 1945.  It looks more like a house built in the late 1800s or early 1900s.

This tidy house at 129 Norfolk Street is recorded as being built in 1910.  It definitely has that 1920s bungalow look to it.

The residents of this 1900 house located at 183 Highland Avenue have put their porch to great use.  That hammock beckons.  The Quincy granite foundation shows beautifully.

To my delight, this Queen Anne Style residence at 20 Lincoln Ave. has recently been unshrouded. With the elimination of mature plantings in the front, we can appreciate the magnificent wrap-around porch and early picture windows with the stained glass transoms . The owner has been meticulously restoring the front of this 1850 house for at least a decade.  Hopefully new owners with deep pockets will continue the restoration work on this fine residence.  (It's for sale!)

This house on Albatross Road in the Adams Shore section was built in 1910.  The large wrap-around porch lets the owners enjoy the ocean air.

The Number 30 Sea Avenue was built by Arthur and Catharine Dunham in the "Prairie Bungalow" Style.  This residence is an elaborate example of this style.  The shaped brackets under the eaves and the segmental openings in the veranda and the all enveloping roof create a fine example of the "Prairie Bungalow" style in Hough's Neck.

This 1897 house on Gannett Road in the Adams Shore neighborhood makes me smile.  It not only has a fabulous porch but check out the double doors to the balcony and all the interesting angles.

Today's classic example of a "sea or lake cottage" has a wrap around porch to beat all on these hot, hazy days of summer.  You can almost smell the sea air, can't you?  This simple Queen Anne house, located in Houghs Neck at 32 Bayview Avenue, was built in 1880 as a summer residence.  Houghs Neck was quite the summer resort back when this house was built.
