Travel Tuesday: Kaanapali, Maui, HI

I would like to trade my shovel for a paddle right about now. We only have about 5 more months to wait until summer.

I really like how this paddler is lined up with the change in the blue tone of the water.  Along the horizon you can see the island of Lanai to the left and Molokai to the right.  Evening swimmers along these reefs can hear the song of the Pacific humpback whale swimming and cavorting in the distance.

Bright Sails

Sailors are taking advantage of good weather in Boston Harbor. Winthrop water tower can be seen in the background. Winthrop is a coastal community that reminds me of the coastal sections of Quincy.

Beach Comber

Some people take the ferry to George's Island to go beach combing. I wonder what treasures this beach comber has found today?

Special shaped rocks and beach glass are two of my favorite things to find at the beach. Do you comb the beach for treasures?

Thursday is "This Old House Day"

You can take a 20 minute boat ride from the Shipyard in Quincy Point and arrive in another world just outside Quincy Bay. The house pictured here is located on Lovells Island and is part of the Boston Harbor Islands National Park. This "oil house" was built in 1903, and was used to supply fuel to the lighthouse station that was located on the island but deactivated in 1939 and no longer standing. I like the shell mound and lobster trap in the foreground.

Most of the boats are out taking part in Quincy Bay Race Week. The houses in the background are in the Squantum section of Quincy.
