The Greens

The rain has washed the snow away at Furnace Brook Golf Club. (That's the Atlantic Ocean in the background.)

One More Round

These avid golfers took advantage of the weather to get one last round of golf in at Furnace Brook Golf Club this past weekend. The greens are unusually lush for late November.

Warming Up

Snow is gone and these avid golfers aren't letting a little cold air stop them from getting around to 9 holes at Furnace Brook Golf Club. This golf club is located on the lee side of Wollaston Hill, bordering the Forbes Hill neighborhood. It is one of 3 golf courses located in Quincy. Quincy is a densely populated city so it's refreshing to have some green space.

"Heavenly Hill"

Many are taking advantage of a holiday today(Martin Luther King Day) and a fresh blanket of snow to go sledding at Furnace Brook Golf Course. This is close to the site of Quincy's one and only skiing area, "Heavenly Hill" which was closed in the early 1970s.

Clubhouse View

One of the best views of Boston from Quincy is from the Granite Links Clubhouse. Not far from here is the site of the first commercial railway in the U.S. Some of the near by abandoned quarries are reused for rock climbing.

Rainbow & Fountain

This fountain was created in what looks like a quarry hole. It is a beautiful outdoor feature at the Granite Links Golf Club. The rainbow was a treat; I was almost going to title this Roy G. Biv!

Putting Around

Getting ready for 18 holes at Granite Links Golf Course. This is Quincy's 1st class golfing area built on filled-in quarries. Some of the fill came from Boston's "Big Dig" Project. This week we'll take a look at various aspects of this ongoing development.

'TisTwilight Time

This is the view looking east from Furnace Brook Golf Club. I really like the line of houses in the distance lit by the sun's last glow.
