The Goose Lady

We love Toruń and we love its quirky statues and sculptures. There are literally dozens of them scattered all around the Old Town. One such addition is the sculpture of a medieval-clad woman holding a basket of eggs and a goose. Unfortunately, she's about to drop one of the eggs...oh no! It's not the Golden Egg is it?!!

Warm Glow and Blue Sky

This was taken in the New Market Square about an hour ago. Love how the newly renovated building on the left is glowing with the setting sun. Great contrast against the crisp blue sky.

WWII Reconstruction

Yesterday, Toruń's Military War Museum organised a large and incredibly realistic WWII reconstruction in the New Square of Toruń. Sadly, being in the middle of a working week prevented TDP from attending. However, here is a newspaper article courtesy of Toruń's Historical War Museum (http://muzeumhw.pl/1/1356/1359/Fundacja-MHW-M%C3%B3wi%C4%85-o-nas-(skany-z-gazet)).

Day of Polish Secret State

Today there will be a historical WWII reconstruction taking place in the New Market Square. So if you will be in Toruń come down and check it out! Will be unique and interesting for sure!

The Greengrocers

Some locals check out the prices of the fruit and veg stalls in Toruń's New Market Square. They have a good selection...though do tend to be a little pricier than the supermarket chains. Probably because they're fresher!!

St Jacob's Church

An interesting shot of this historical church. It's situated just off Toruń's New Market Square

The Church Tower

Following on from yesterday's post...this is the main facade of the same church....complete with yellow clock face.

The Yellow Clock

The yellow clock shines through the winter blues. No longer used for religious purposes, this old church has been many things. One time is what a bar/club and even the venue for the Camerimage film festival. Today it is just used for events and doesn't really serve any real purpose. Shame really...as it has heaps of potential!

The Twin Towers of Toruń

Nestled in one corner of the New Town Square is the impressive Kościół pw. św. Jakuba (the Church of Saint Jacob) with its unique twin towers. What's even more impressive is that it's been standing there from 1350! One of the many joys of medieval Toruń.
