Friday Fences: Kissing Gate

The entrance to the Trans Pennine Way (and National Cycle Route #62) at the end of Garside Street. The kissing gate was designed to prevent motorcyclists gaining access. Alas it makes it very awkward for ordinary cyclists and people pushing prams and impossible for wheelchair users to access the path.

Weekend Reflections: Ring and Ride Bus

This weekend's reflections are in the windows of the Ring and Ride bus which brings us into town and drops us off in Clarendon Place each Saturday.

Ring & Ride provides a door-to-door accessible minibus service for people of all ages who find it difficult to use ordinary public transport. Until recently you could only book journeys the morning before and it often took a long time to get past the "engaged signal". Now you can book journeys up to a week in advance so, although it can still take a while to get through, the pressure to get through is not so great.

Weekend Reflection in the window of B's

I took this photo with my phone (which is rarely used for phoning and never for texting) last Saturday morning.

We are looking into B's café which has been open since February 2010. Reflected in its window is The Queens and the Willow Wood Hospice charity shop.

There is also my wife backing her wheelchair out of the Ring 'n' Ride bus.
