Selah the Model :)

My Grandma Joyce is quite the talented woman. She seems to be able to make anything. She sewed these dresses by hand... created them too, without a pattern! So they are truly one of a kind creations. She's opening an Etsy shop called Ivy Cottage Stitches. It's just in the "creating" stages as she's setting up her site and sewing more dresses. They will be for sale soon. She and my Grandpa (papa) live in a cottage on some property and there is ivy all around it and her flower gardens. It's really pretty. So the name of her business is quite fitting. I just picture her sitting in her little cottage, stitching away at these dainty creations. :)

Selah was our model on Easter Sunday so I could get some shots for Grandma's site. Selah was a crack up! She followed instructions quite well and had us all laughing at her cuteness and personality shining through her "poses".

("Selah, fold your hands in your lap.")

("Selah, dance!")

This shot looks eerily like a photo of me from when I was her age.
Jude turned 4 this week and Selah will be 2 in a couple weeks. I always look forward to taking their birthday pictures! I'll do their birthday posts this month.

For those of you who enjoy photography:
We shot these Sunday afternoon during a patch of no rain. It was quite dark out because it was so overcast. I chose to bump up my ISO since Selah's a mover & a shaker and it was so dark.
Shot with my Canon 5d Mark II & 50mm lens (I would have used my 85mm lens if I'd had it with me, but I left it home thinking I wouldn't use it that day for just random family snap shots). ISO 400, aperture f/2.5, shutter speed 1/320, manual mode.

Followers of Fashion

Quite why Fashion TV has chosen ToruĊ„ to open up a brand new club remains to be seen. Nevertheless, this is a fun new addition to the ToruĊ„ nightclub scene. The club is located in the basement of the Solaris Hotel has replaced the old Solaris nightclub.

For the special opening night, a spectacular ice carving of the Eiffel Tower was erected in front of the club.

Footwear on the T

This is a view of train riders sitting across from me on a recent trek into Boston. The red bag is a nice touch. I think footwear is an interesting subject if you follow fashion trends and fads. Blue jeans are definitely the casual clothing of choice around here. What's the casual fashion where you live?

Coming Soon...

I've had an idea for awhile, brewing in the back of my mind. I love to photograph hs seniors and I love that I get to do so many graduate sessions each year!

I'm developing a new hs senior package for Bethany F Photography called Senior Couture sessions. It's designed for seniors who love fashion, or modeling... or are maybe crazy fans of ANTM (America's Next Top Model)? :) No, it's really for any hs senior who would love to go all out on a photo shoot with the hair, make up, outfits and take a little direction while modeling for the camera in a totally laid back environment. I wish I could do it! :) We're out to have fun and capture YOU. Another session is coming later this month so look for it (I'm sure it will take on another look of it's own)! More details and pricing will be coming soon too. We're gearing up to start booking these sessions in late spring/early summer.

My beautiful, and long time friend, Hayley, is a hair stylist in downtown Portland and will be doing the hair and make up for Bethany F Photography's Senior Couture sessions. Hayley and I recently did a shoot, as we're developing the process, and here are some preliminary images (ok a lot of images) of her. She's as sweet as a person can be, so don't be fooled by all of the "fierce" faces! ;) Stay tuned for another preliminary Senior Couture session later this month!

What the...?!

In every country one can find a fashion statement and Poland is no exception! This picture taken in central ToruĊ„ shows the unique combination of wide fish-net stockings and bright red shoes. Surprising? It is when you realise that they were being worn by a mature, plump woman! But the main thing is...if she is comfortable...then thats all that is important!
