Pendrey: High School Senior

Sorry Pendrey, I'm going to use your high school senior pictures blog post to take a stroll down memory lane for a second. ;)

So, hands down my favorite teacher of all time is Mrs. Ford. She was my preschool teacher and then later on was one of my teachers in Jr. High. I just love her to pieces! Her daughter, Jocelyn, babysat me when I was little and she's one of the sweetest people you'll ever meet. Jocelyn's daughter is Pendrey, and I remember when Pendrey was little... she was seriously the cutest thing on earth with soooo much personality and talked like she was a grown up... and now here she is grown and gorgeous and an amazing woman, just like the other two women in her family.

We took her pictures at George Roger's Park in Lake Oswego on an overcast fall day and had a great time!
It was wonderful spending an afternoon with you Pendrey and Jocelyn!

Pendrey: High School Senior

Beautiful, beautiful Pendrey! I'm excited to share a bunch of photos from her senior shoot in my next post, but for now here's one...

I hit an editing traffic jam when we had a bunch of rain at the beginning of October... I had to reschedule so many shoots for later dates that it has caused me have a pile up of shooting/editing!
I'm excited to share a bunch of pictures with you soon! :)

Having Some Fun

My brother Matt and sister-in-law, Gina, are both really talented. Matt can pretty much pick up any instrument and play it well and he writes music too. We always enjoy hearing his latest songs when we're hanging out as a family. He took a photography class last year that really connected with his creative side and he jumped right into it. Gina loves photography too and is always snapping photos at our family get-togethers! (She's also an amazing knitter and even plays the drums!)

After throwing the idea around for quite some time they decided to start a photography business! I'm so excited for them and know they're going to do great! And it's been fun to get to share with them some of the things I've learned over time. They want to mainly focus on HS Senior photography at first, so I thought it would be great to get a group of high schoolers together and do a shoot with Matt & Gina. It would give them a chance to build their portfolio and really, I just thought it would be fun! So these fantastic teenagers volunteered to be our subjects in the freezing cold, windy December weather and did such a great job! (Thank you Elizabeth, April, Hannah, Brennan & Jillian for being so wonderful!) Matt & Gina's website is in construction mode, but to book a session with them, you can check them out here: www.corneliusphotoworks.com
They live in Eugene, OR, but will be doing photo shoots in surrounding areas too. Bookmark their blog to follow their progression.

I really like photographing groups in a setting where we're doing something active. We had arranged to have a green canoe that day and be able to do some other fun "lifestyle shots", but that fell through at the last minute. But it was great just to goof off and shoot anything we wanted. I also put down my 85mm lens that day and only shot with my 50mm and I re-fell-in-love with it. :) I use to only shoot with a 50mm until I bought my 85 and it became my favorite lens. (I rarely take it off my camera.) But I think I'll be using my 50mm a lot more again! You go 50, you go! :)

If any hs seniors in the future want to do their senior sessions together (in a group) I'm all for it!
Here are some of my shots from that day.

Andrea: Class of 2010

Personality! That is what Andrea has tons of. And talent. Ok, and adorable looks too... :)

I loved the wind blowing her hair as she played her violin. By the way, she is really gifted. I wish I could play. I always wanted to learn to play the viola. There is still time. Maybe Jude or Selah will be interested and we could do it together some day.
Andrea had me laughing when I was taking these...

I love when someone has that little bit of extra skip to their step.
Here are some other favorites...

Madison: Class of 2010

Madison is a sweet girl. I still remember the jr. high church summer camp when I got to be the cabin leader for her and her friends. That was a fun week and we got to see God do amazing things in kids' lives! We also got to enjoy some hilarious Napoleon Dynamite camp games... my favorite game was "give me some of your tots" and Jr. high kids were stuffing greasy tater tots into their short's pockets... so hilarious. Good time. Madison, you've grown into a beautiful young woman.

Scott - Class of 2010

Scott is a great guy! He comes from a wonderful family that Josh and I just love!

He was so easy to photograph. He has this very charming smile! He also has this great "serious look" and by the end of his session he had that look down! Here are a few of my favorites.

Maria: Part 2

I love hs senior sessions. Just love them! It was great photographing Maria and spending a little time getting to know her and her sweet mom.
I chose mostly serious shots for this post, but I think the last shot in this series shows the hilarious side of her great personality too. :)

Maria, don't kill me for posting this one! :) I just think you're so cute!
