Theme Day: Under Construction

It's that time of the month again..this time the theme is 'under construction'. Wanted to try and find a photo which was in someway connected with our current series 'Following the Footsteps of Toruń's POWs'. This church is being constructed on the site of the former Italian prisoner of war camp. It sure is taking a long time to build it...and am not surprised as last time I passed it, there was a grand total of only 2 builders working on it!!

Mind your Head!

These construction workers are currently hard at work restoring the exterior of an old tenement building. Funny...my Polish is still quite poor...but I know what scaffolding is in Polish (rusztowanie)! Why on earth do I need to know that? Funny what you pick up over the years!! ;-)

Hanging Around!

Here in Poland...it takes atleast 7-8 construction workers to dig one hole! A lot of hanging around for nothing. But at least they are employed...and the job eventually gets done! ;-)

Old and New

A view of a building construction site within the Old Town of Toruń. The site is actually converting an old granary into a massive new hotel. The building process has been going on ever since I've known Toruń (4 years now!) and will no doubt last a little longer. The picture was taken near the River Vistula and is looking towards the outer rim of the Old Town. You can make out the famous leaning tower of Toruń as well as other notable buildings. It's also interesting to see another form of modern technology: two long-haul jets playing catch-up high over the city!!
