The view is looking West on the TransPennine Trail that is the new use for the line of the former Godley to Apethorn railway.
This is not the bridge that links Peel Street with Mansfield Road, as I thought when I first posted this, but the Stockport Road bridge. Thanks to Dave Williams for correcting me.
What, you may ask, is carried in that pipeline supported by the bridge? Well I don't know. I do know that there are various other pipeline bridges across railways and streams and doubtless they link up with each other somewhere.
