Born Again

This former church building, on the corner of Beale and Farrington Streets, is being converted into condominiums. Work has been sporadic the last six months or so on this handsome "shingle" style building with Tudor touches that was built in the late 19th century.

Prior to its sale in 2006 this building was the home of St. Catherine's Greek Orthodox Church. The church outgrew its space and moved to a new Sanctuary it built in Braintree. The building originally served as the home of the Wollaston Unitarian Church for approximately 85 years before it became St. Catherine's.

The building is listed on the National Register of Historical Places. I'm so glad these architectural gems are recycled rather than leveled. Anyone want to guess how much the condos will start at? Half a million?
