We Are Young

Our birthday party yesterday was grand. Many of Pasadena's well-loved dignitaries were there for the synchronized cake-cutting. We had music, classic cars, booths starring local businesses, face painting--all the fun stuff.

But the star of the party was the cake. Uh, cakes. Seven cakes.

Everyone who was willing to stand in line got a piece. I'm too impatient, and I'll bet I'm not the only one.

Cake Day!

I was born on this day and raised in this fine city many full moons ago. My dearest husband not only provided the beautiful cake seen here from Montillio's Bakery but he also gave me my start photo blogging. Thanks, honey . . . here's hoping to share many more birthdays and photos . . .

Food...Glorious Food!

The Polish sure do know how to put on a spread. A typical family gathering here will consist of many plates of food (meat, salads, bread, etc) and much chit-chat and banter. The food is then usually washed down with a few glasses of vodka or liqeur followed by a whole yummy selection of cakes! Are you feeling hungry? Then come to Polska!

Three Polish dishes

This is a typical 3-course meal here in Poland. First up is Żurek - a traditional sour soup made with yeast extract, eggs, sausages and garlic. The main course is a selection of perogi (Polish dumplings) and then finally good old homemade apple cake.

All dishes shown are from the local perogi restaurant "Leniwa" - see our earlier posting a few weeks back at: http://torundailyphoto.blogspot.com/2007/05/home-made-dumplings.html.

Hope Toruń Daily Photo has whetted your appetite!
