A pile of layouts

Here are some new layouts. I wish I had a better way to take pictures of them - the photo paper is bad for glare and the colours always seem washed out. They end up looking even worse if I scan them.

The Sleigh Ride layout was finished 2 weeks ago and I am only just getting around to posting it now, but the rest were made tonight. I find if I plan the layouts and print the pictures in the evenings, I can put the layouts together when Ava is napping or in the evening after she goes to bed.

New layouts

Here are a couple of new layouts. The Duckie one was inspired by a layout in the new Creating Keepsakes magazine. It was fun - I finger painted the title (haven't done that in a long time!) and I doodled the swirls and flowers. I also stitched on that layout with my sewing machine. It was the first time I stitched on one of my layouts.

Well, she's faster than I would have thought

I am hoping to take some new pictures of Ava today although she still isn't over her cold. At times you wouldn't know it. For somebody who only started crawling on Sunday, she is pretty fast. She can get around pretty well - especially on the carpet. The hardwood was a bit hard at first. She would go forward three inches and slide back a foot. :) No matter what she is crawling on, her little legs move forward and the clothes drag behind. Her favourite discovery of the week is the spring behind the door (the thing that keeps the door from hitting the wall when you open it). That provides her with much entertainment.

A few new layouts

Today I took pictures of all of the layouts I have completed for Ava's scrapbook. I couldn't believe how many I had done. It didn't seem like that many when they were in the album, but when they were scattered all over the table it was a huge pile. I still have a pile of events to scrapbook, but I at least I have a little bit from each month since she was born.

It isn't taking me as long to scrapbook pages as it used to. I used to obsess over each layout and get nowhere. I also used to avoid using patterned paper I really, really liked because I wanted to save it for something really special as sometimes finding the same paper at the scrapbook store on a later visit is impossible. Now I just go with it. If I hate it, I either keep moving things around until it works or I get over it and move onto the next. For example - I'm not big on "On the move" below. I don't know what it is that I don't like, but I just don't. I think the problem is that I messed up some journaling down the left side of the pictures and had to cover it with the strip of flower stickers. I might try to recreate it at some point but I am leaving it for now.

I know that a lot of you who are reading my blog aren't scrapbookers, but it gives you an idea what you can do with your pictures.

Crawling

Yesterday Ava started to crawl. She'd been trying for a while, but wasn't getting too far. Then yesterday my mom and I were playing with her in her room and she did it. She crawled forward a bit and then backwards. I captured it with our video camera, but didn't have my camera with me. I tried to figure out how to scrapbook this moment and was inspired by a layout by Ali Edwards in the new Creating Keepsakes magazine.

I took the video, created an MPEG from it and used print screen to capture the frames I wanted and then cropped and moved them into one document. Scrapbook layout to come later this week.

New scrapbook layouts

Ava is having a nap (in her crib!) so I thought I would post some new layouts. I probably won't get any pictures of her today. Her cold is back and her cheeks are bright red. She really isn't feeling well. One of her top teeth poked through earlier this week, so she hasn't been very happy.
