Bright and Beautiful

Something simple is what I want for today. But not too quiet.

I know it's a rose but I don't know what kind. Do you?

I've been working hard. Too much time at the computer! I need to go stare at a real flower for a while. Smell things. Eat something fun. Hear noise.

Thanks for all your encouraging words on Belinda's Birthday! I'm working on a business plan for the publication of Camelot & Vine and I'll let you in on it as I figure it out. I want to do a European book tour. I will be delighted, however, with a tour of the San Gabriel Valley.

Zen Monday: #177

Because this is a very special Monday, at least for Pasadena, we have two kinds of Zen today. First, we have Zen Zen.

Then we have Zen Monday Zen.

Please share your opinions, wisdom and wisecracks in the comments.

Moving On

At a memorial service yesterday I saw a lot of people with whom I once worked. It's appropriate for the photo to be a little fuzzy, as I discovered my memory to be.

"Remember the time we all...?"

Not really.

"You were there when so and so..."

Was I?

It was nice to see them, or at least some of them, gathered in the name of someone we once knew and liked, even loved. Some people have moved further on than others, though moving on in space and time is not always the same as moving on in spirit.

Fun With Flowers

We rarely get driving rain in the Los Angeles basin--the kind that pelts buckets and makes you pull off the road because you can't see. We do get rain, however. (We'd almost forgotten it.) This past week we had several days of constant, gentle showers. The drought-dry soil just drank it up and all the plants are dazzled.

These miniature roses are delovely the way they are. Then again, they begged to be messed with in post.

What do you think? Anniversary card "to the one I love?" Get well card?
Maybe a sympathy card.

The black and white doesn't quite work, I suppose because the color values of the leaves and flowers are too much the same. I kind of like it, though. Now there's your sympathy card.

This could go on, but you get the idea. How will you be wasting away your weekend?
