A Jennapullin surprise.....!

Well it's true, as Red Nomad has said many times, there are often little unexpected treasures to be found in the Australian outback. Driving along the seemingly never ending road through acres of wheat fields and bush scrub to get to Goomalling over the weekend, there it was just off the road standing abandoned in the hot sun. Even in its decayed state St Peter's Anglican Church is a sweet simple little affair. It was consecrated in 1916 according to the records in the main library and is listed as being in the 'suburb' of Jennapullin , if you click you will see exactly what I mean by 'long road' and 'in the middle of nowhere'! I can imagine back in 1916 this church would have been the hub of the farming community in the surrounding area, with families arriving in horse drawn carts for Sunday services, baptisms and weddings. This trip reaffirmed another fact, the 'country' is great to visit, but it's the sea and the city for me! Hope your week has started well, take care....
