Toruń's Raftsman

The Raftsman statue now stands in the Old Market Square behind the Town Hall. I say now as it once stood near the Vistula and before that was actually located in the courtyard of the Town Hall. It depicts the fable of the raftsman who managed to rid Toruń from a plague of frogs...simply by playing his fiddle. Was this the original source of The Piped Piper of Hamelyn or a blatant copy?!
