Leave my home, now I'm free.....
One of the things I love best when you set out in the morning is that you never know what the day will present to you.. Last week while on my walk around the marina I happened across this very diverse and highly energized group of young people who it turns out are refugees mainly from Sudan and Iran attending a 'high intensity' language course at Aranmore Catholic College. In June (17 - 23rd) it is 'Refugee Week' Australia wide, this year's theme is 'Restoring Hope'. The teachers from this class at Aranmore had been given a budget to make a video, the opening line being 'leave my home, now I'm free', it was fun to watch these young people thoroughly enjoying the sun, sand and sea! It took a while to get them together and focused on the reason they were there, you can't blame them for being sidetracked, but eventually they sang the words with meaning, I can't even begin to imagine what they've been through already in their young lives, I hope I get the chance to see the finished video in June. Happy start to the new week.....!!
