Dancing cheek to cheek.....

The original Indiana Tea House was built in 1910 and according to the blurb by the 1920's it was all expansive lawns and couples dancing cheek to cheek, ah the twenties, a time of  flappers, the Charleston and gangsters if the movies are anything to go by, one thing's for sure, the clothes were fabulous!  At one point there were worries that it might sink into the sea as a result of global warming, also thoughts about turning it into a 'gentleman's club' (presumably they weren't worried about the gentlemen sinking into the sea). Moving on to 1996 a restaurant was built on above the surf  club storage building, a restaurant with big windows allowing ocean views on all sides, it has a central bar and fireplace and a definite 'colonial' feel about it, and one of the most beautiful 'loos' I've ever seen, I really wish I'd taken a picture of it for Red, at rednomad (don't ask!!) These days it's simply known as Indiana and is a sought after venue for weddings, parties etc. The sandbags in the foreground are part of the Sculpture by the Sea, a little item called 'comfort zone'..hmm! I think I might retire to the 'could have been a gentleman's club that might've sunk into the sea' and have coffee and a large piece of something divine!! Keep safe and have a great Tuesday. p.s it was St. Peter's Square, Rome , where the queues are long, way too long for moi.....
