Meanwhile back in Toruń...

Yesterday, thousands of Polish mourners flocked to Warsaw to take part in a huge memorial service for the victims of the air tragedy. One such person was TDP reader Mark Hoogslaag who braved the immense crowds and kindly sent in these great pics from the event.

Back in Toruń (and indeed in most other cities), they beamed in live coverage of the event on a big screen TV.

After the service, mourners lined the streets of Warsaw's Old Town to pay their respects to the funeral procession carrying the coffins of the Presidental coffins.

Today, the Presidential couple will be laid to rest in the tombs of the Wawel. Sadly, many dignatries including Barack Obama and Prince Charles have been forced to cancel their visits due to the damn volcanic ash!
