Town Hall and Snow Shower

Captured yesterday evening as Toruń was experiencing a light snow shower. As you can see our festive decorations are still up. Polish people tend to leave them up as late as early February.

An Angel by Candlelight

Everyone loves an angel...and the Poles are no exception. They can be bought as ornaments, decorated on top of your Christmas tree and in the likes of Toruń can be the symbol of a city! Here just for you...is a rather fetching angel beautifully lit by candlelight.

The Hanging Rooster

Spotted this hanging rooster outside a local pub. Thought it was quirky enough to put it up here on TORUŃ DAILY PHOTO!

This beautifully festive decoration is currently hanging inside Damroki a rustic pub/restaurant in Toruń. I particularly love the fruit...nice touch!

Toruń's Very Own Messiah

Following on from yesterday's Christmas decoration post...Toruń's attractive full size nativity scene is still up in the New Square. Though it's likely to be dismantled soon. This year the rather old, church-like figures have been replaced with more stylised wooden ones. Either way...it makes for quite an attractive scene.

Santa's STILL in town!

The Poles tend to take a loooooong time in taking their Christmas decorations down. And why not? It makes the place far more colourful and festive. Don't be surprised to see Christmas trees up in homes until early February. This Santa is still hanging around...even in mid January.

Angels Above!

There is something quite charming about this decoration above a local shop. It is just an ordinary bike shop yet the entrance is very grand. Toruń has a fascination with angels. There was even a festival last year celebrating them. Polish people often give decorated angels as gifts and there are other paintings scattered around the city depicting angles. Hey...there is even a pub called "Pod Aniołem"...or "Under the Angel"!!!!
