The Bell Tower

Construction of the Bell Tower began in 1999 and was completed in 2001. I remember the government at that time did a survey to get public opinion of the concept and that it was not well received, but as governments tend to do, they went ahead with it anyway. It is known as one of the largest musical instruments in the world and it houses many bells of historic significance, some dating back to the 14th century.(The Bell Tower) You can actually go up into the tower and watch the bells being rung and have a bit of a  try yourself! It's not my favorite building in Perth, I find it a bit ugly, but it certainly is an interesting design and  is hugely popular with tourists. The view of Perth and the Swan River from the top is pretty spectacular.
