Beauty on every corner???

In complete contrast to yesterday's post, today we want to show you some of the less beautiful parts of the town. Sadly, like the majority of Eastern Europe, Poland has a large amount of graffiti...and Toruń is of no exception.

I remember, when I first arrived in Poland 5 years ago by coach. As soon as we crossed the border from Germany, the sudden and shocking amount of graffiti was alarming. Today, I don't notice it so much...either because the number has reduced or most probably, like the many local Poles I have simply become imuned to it. Not saying that all the graffiti is bad. Some of it is very beautiful and artistic...but sadly alot of it can be pure acts of vulgar vandalism.

These pictures taken today clearly reflect the contrast between the old medieval times and modern society that we live in. The bemused individual you can see below is Patrick Skipton, another fellow native English speaking resident of Toruń. He insisted that he wanted his mug-shot up on Toruń Daily Photo...so here it is!
